AUTHOR

Patricia Redican

Patricia Redican has lived in the Virginia City, Nevada area for 51 years and has been married forty-eight of those to an avid hunter and outdoorsman. They have two grown children and three grandchildren, four mules (five counting her husband), a pen full of chickens, three dogs, and four stray cats. She lives in a solar powered log cabin they built with the help of wonderful friends and family. Jaunts into the hills, visits to the historical town of Virginia City, and a wildly active imagination inspired this story to be born.

Virginia City is one of the most famous boomtowns in the Old West as it appeared overnight as a result of the Comstock Lode silver strike of 1859. During its peak, Virginia City had a population of nearly 30,000 residents. As of the 2000 census, Virginia City had a population of 1,500 in the town. Virginia City could be considered the birthplace of Mark Twain, as it was here in 1863 that writer Samuel Clemens, then a reporter on the local Territorial Enterprise newspaper, first used his famous pen name.

REVIEWS

“ Patricia Redican has accomplished what most authors only dream of, writing a sequel that is better than the first book!” She brings both mystery and history to life in this modern tale of romance, greed, triumph, and tragedy. It has more plot twists and turns than the roads around Virginia City and is a compelling read for all ages. ”

I used the “Bloody Bucket” in my book.

In Terror In Six Mile Canyon, the ghostly miners who help my characters find their way out of the mine they are trapped in, became an inspiration after reading about this terrible tragedy.

THE GOLD NUGGET

Rebecca, you must keep what I’m about to tell you very quiet. Do not breathe a word of it to anyone. Promise me. If anything happens to me, you get in touch with Sheriff Tom Ackerman of Virginia City and start an investigation. When her dad and brother go missing, Los Angeles beauty Rebecca Simmons quits her job and travels to Nevada to search out Sheriff Tom Ackerman. From the moment she arrives in town, she becomes the target of a man determined to get what he wants at any cost. Rebecca arrives at her dad’s cabin with the sheriff to find both her dad’s and her brother’s trucks with slashed tires, shattered glass, and riddled with bullet holes. Someone is serious about what they want from her dad, but what is it? As Rebecca unravels the mystery, she also discovers her growing attraction to the sheriff. Danger, mystery, romance, and a one-hundred-year-old ghost are just the beginning of what Rebecca finds in the Gold Nugget.

TERROR IN SIX MILE CANYON

Movement caught her eye, and Rebecca looked up into the rearview mirror, the smile fading from her face. “Easy, Vicky. Hold on!” Rebecca screamed just as she felt a jolt from behind. The black truck rammed them, and the icy road kept Rebecca from being able to turn the wheel. Now they were perched, parallel with the creek and the pavement, both left tires hanging dangerously over the edge of the embankment. They thought their troubles were over, but it was only the beginning. Thanks to Sheriff Tom Ackerman, the man they thought was responsible for terrorizing Rebecca Ackerman’s father and brother over a plot of land is in jail. But before the investigation can even begin the key witness is beaten up and left for dead. Apparently someone is still after the gold Rebecca’s father bound on his property in Six Mile Canyon. But who? Why is Vicky’s new housemate, Amy, acting so suspicious? When Vicky and Rebecca go missing, it’s up to Tom and Steven to find them before its too late? Along the way, they will encounter ghostly miners and a one hundred-year old ghost named Lorelei, who will also play a part in bringing the villains to justice.
